Obituary for Roger Bodson

Roger Bodson
The family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury, Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of 61 years to Alice Louise Bodson. Son of the late Rene and Marie-Jeanne (née Pharand) Bodson. Beloved father of Gerald (Karen), Normand (Patricia) and Jo-Anne Fanning (Craig). Dear brother of Rolly Bodson (Susanne), Claire Beaulieu (late Vic), Martha Perrier (Delphilse), Gilles Bodson (Rita), Albert Bodson (Patsy), Jacqueline Ethier (Rolland), Pauline Legault (Gilles), Maurice Bodson (predeceased Pauline)(friend Linda), Rejeanne Rancourt (Dan) and Denis Bodson (Susanne). Predeceased by his brother Marcel (late Bernadette) and by his sister Madeleine Lachapelle (late Marcel). Loved and admired by his three grandsons, Lee (Adele), Ryan (Tabitha) and Chad (Ramona). After retiring from Falconbridge in 1980, Roger built his retirement home at his favorite place, Nepawassi Lake where many winters were spent fishing in his fish hut and where he was often referred to as “The Mayor of Nepawassi”. Roger was from a large family and many family memories were made at “The Lake”. His two sons Gerald and Normand were always his right hand men. Between the three, they could build and fix anything; their father being the foreman. He loved dancing with his two favorite partners, “the catch of his life”, his loving and devoted wife Alice and his beautiful daughter Jo-Anne. Roger was a respectable, patient and humble man. We are forever grateful for the compassionate care from the entire health care team, CCAC, Bayshore, Alzheimer Society, Dr. Joanne Clark and her geriatric team. Dr. Bourdon and the ER staff, 6th floor nursing staff. Over the past seven years with his health failing, our family and Roger were treated with value and dignity; for that we are forever grateful. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, Monday, October 19th, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Service to follow at 1p.m. in the chapel. Donations to the Alzheimer Society can be made by cheque or online at www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca.
