Obituary for Fernande Coulombe

Fernande Coulombe
January 26, 1923 - April 30, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mom and grandmother, Fernande Coulombe, at the age of 95. Until her last day, she loved and cared for her family with total devotion. A lifelong learner and avid reader, she exemplified the value of continuing education and instilled the benefits of its pursuit in all of her children. She will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and faithful woman who didn’t fear changing her mind, adopting new ideas, or being in the company of people who differed from herself. Fernande is predeceased by her husband Pierre, her son Guy (Marja Taussi), and her great-granddaughter Layla Cecchetto as well as her sisters Simone Chartrand and Jeanine Nault, and her brothers Hector and Rhéal Chartrand.

She is survived by her children Suzanne Cecchetto (John), Pauline Pavan (Dennis), Michel (Nicole), Pierre (Ornella), Denis (Carmen), and Madeleine Di Matteo (André). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jason Coulombe (Josée Belanger), Monique Binks (Chris), Dean Cecchetto (Leigh Anne), Naomi Pavan (Jesús Atias), Jasmine Coulombe (Marc Pilon), Chris Vitali (Melissa Lefebvre), Matt Coulombe (Stephanie), Lianne Paquette (Patrick) and Eric Coulombe (Kyla Young). She received so much joy from her great-grandchildren Mia and Graham Binks, Quinn and Leo Cecchetto, Pascale and Hugo Pilon, and Félix and Arthur Paquette. Her passing is mourned by her sisters Juliette Imbeau and Sr. Marie Paule Chartrand.

Her family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Red Oak Villa, the nurses and doctors in the Emergency Department of Health Sciences North, and Dr. Natalie Goodale in particular, who provided Mom with so much personalized care. We recognize her Personal Support Workers, Veronica and Chris, and the independence they allowed her to maintain. Mom asked for a Funeral mass which will be held at Ste-Anne-des-Pins, 14 Beech St, Sudbury, on Friday, May 4th, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Friends may gather with the family in the foyer of the church after 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St-Joseph’s Villa would be appreciated.

Entombment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements and cremation entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury. (www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca)
