RUBIN, Rosemarie (nee Boergardts)

In loving memory of dear Oma to Shawn (Tasha), Sonia (Wei), Zoe, and great-grandmother of Madisen and Kai. Beloved sister of Irmtraut, Christa and Lore (pre-deceased), she was the cherished wife of Gottfried A. Rubin (pre-deceased in 2014) and loving mother of Astrid (Antti) of Blezard Valley, Cordula (Alyre) of New Brunswick and Monica (Travis) of British Columbia. Our lovely mother passed from this life on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the age of 86. Her journey began in the beautiful Harz mountains of Germany, took her to Saarbruecken as a chemical technologist, where she met her future husband; then to the USA and finally to Sudbury in 1966. Not wanting to see life only through her children's eyes, she returned to college and graduated with honours as a med lab technologist, then worked at the Memorial Hospital. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed the tranquility of her long walks in the forest. Our family is so grateful for the kind and compassionate care she always received from the staff at the Elizabeth Centre LTC in Val Caron.
