Obituary for Ghislain Quenneville

Ghislain Quenneville
Ghislain Irenée "Jessie" Quenneville
March 10, 1955-January 14, 2017

Jessie was diagnosed early 2016 with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It should not surprise you that he outlived all norms, estimates, and expectations the doctors gave him- he was even able to walk after his spinal surgery. His choice to see beauty and to keep his mildly inappropriate humour was a fundamental part of what made Jessie vibrant in his own unique way, even throughout the intensity of the challenges. This view of life allowed him to reach unbelievable goals, from courting his wife across the continent to creating clean energy. Nothing stopped him from achieving his dreams. An unconditional lover, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, buddy, entrepreneur, MacGyver, and daredevil, he will never be forgotten. How could he? He always knew how to make a statement. Jessie passed in peace at the age of 61 in dignity and with choice, surrounded and held lovingly by family. In celebration of his life, private services were held at Paroisse Ste-Anne-des-Pins. In lieu of flowers and sympathy cards, tune-up your car, shovel your driveway, make your bed, give hugs, and understand your finances- he would have wanted that. More seriously, donations in his memory made to the Elliot Lake St. Joseph's Hospital's cancer center, Northern Cancer Foundation, or Miners for Cancer Sudbury would be more heartfelt. Ghislain est un homme qui a travaillé et aimé avec ardeur, il ne sera pas oublié.
