Obituary for Linda Kiudorf

Linda Kiudorf
Linda, at age 90, passed away peacefully in Sudbury, Ontario on June 29, 2016 at St Joseph’s Villa, following a short illness. Survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Erich Kiudorf; son Enn Kiudorf (Alison Taylor) of Vancouver; daughter Tiina Doyan (Richard) of Los Angeles; sister Leida Sukk (Ants) in Estonia, as well as six adoring grandchildren: Sarina, Armen, Erik, Kristen, Laura and Aleksander. Pre-deceased by her parents Peeter and Johanna Parik, and two brothers Artur and Heino, all in Estonia.
Born in Viljandi, Estonia on April 1, 1926, Linda lived a full and adventurous life. After a happy childhood, she left Estonia in 1944 to escape the advancing Soviet invasion, landing in Germany near the end of WWII. She immigrated to Canada in 1949, married Erich in Toronto in 1951, then settled in Sudbury where her husband worked for Inco. This was followed by many peaceful and happy years of family life, raising her two children in Sudbury and spending summers at the camp at Rock Lake. She worked for many years at the TD Bank in Copper Cliff and Sudbury, and was an active member of the local Estonian community. Linda was also a wonderful artist, and her paintings hang in many homes in the Sudbury area. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling to many places including visits to the Caribbean, Mexico, Brazil and back to Estonia.
Linda had a resourceful, determined and fun loving personality, and was not afraid to take matters into her own hands when needed. She was a great believer in the “everything in moderation” approach, and enjoyed excellent health for most of her life until the onset of Alzheimer’s began to slow her down in recent years.
The family would like to recognize and thank the staff at St Joseph’s Villa for their care and wonderful support over the final year of Linda’s life. There will be no visitation, but a celebration of life will be planned for mid-August in Sudbury. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Joseph’s Villa (www.sjsudbury.com) or the Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca) would be appreciated. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
